This nickel plated Steel coin honours Lieutenant-Colonel Charles de Salaberry, whose leadership at the Battle of Châteauguay (1813) played a crucial role in defending Canada during the War of 1812. In reverse there is a red colour maple leave depicted which make the coin unique.
